4-H Clothing judging will be held at the Ness City Grade School.  Clothing Construction consultation and Clothing Construction
& Buymanship modeling will take place. 4-H members will receive a judging schedule from the Extension Office. See Fair book for more

All photos must be larger than 7"x9" and smaller than 8"x10".  All photos must be mounted on Photo boards.  4-H members may exhibit up to 2 photos per class:  Animals, Buildings, Landscape, People, Abstract, Action, Flowers, Closeups, Miscellaneous Album (up to 30 prints). The Kansas 4-H Horse Show and events handbook will be used as the guidelines for the Horse Show.  All Ness County 4-H Horseman will be required to stall their horses at the fair until Saturday. Class List:  Halter, Showmanship, Walk Trot, Western Plesure, Western Horsemanship, Trail, Reining, Barrels, Poles, Flags, Costume Class.  See Fair book for more rules.

Run by the Ness County 4-H Families, come out and enjoy some delicious food with the 4-H kids. Menu items include: hamburgers, hotdogs, taco cups, Frito pies, french fries, ice cream and several drink choices. Homemade pie served daily, different flavors each day so come out and enjoy.

No perishable foods allowed. Foods will be judged by consultation judging, a schedule will be mailed to all 4-H members from the Extension Office. Each member may enter up to 3 entries per class. Must prepare extras for food sale. See Fair book for more rules.

All exhibits 4-H and Open Class must be in place with the exception of livestock and scheduled consultation Judging exhibits

4-H members limited to one entry per class, except in miscellaneous, where they may have 3 entries. All exhibits that need to be hung need to have hanger attached. See Fair book for more rules.

Rabbits and Poultry will be located in the north side of the South shed. Handpets will need to be on display. Cats come in for judging and then are taken home. Wildlife will be displayed in the booth building. See Fair book for more rules.

The Public is welcome to come out and enjoy the 4-H Clothing Style Review and participate in the Food Auction. This is a great way to get some of the best cookies and cakes in the county and help out a 4-H member. See Fair book for more rules.

Also there will be several games including Skeet Ball, Dunk Tank, Plinko, Duck Pond, Lucky Toss, Dart Throw, and more. Tickets are 50 cents each.  Games are one ticket, smaller rides 2 tickets, and larger rides 3 tickets.

Pie Contest Rules:

  1. ALL ingredients must be homemade (No premade crusts or fillings)
  2. Pie must be submitted in a disposable pan.
  3. A whole pie shall be submitted at 6pm.

The Kansas 4-h Dog Show rule book will be followed.  All dogs must be up-to-date on their shots or boosters for rabies, parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis bordetella and helatitis.  All dogs must be kept on a leash while on the grounds, unless in their cages.  Dogs must not be taken near livestock areas, food judging areas or food stands.

The Round Robin event is a Livestock Showmanship Contest. Each grand champion showmanship winner from the junior and senior division of Horse, Beef, Sheep, Swine, and Meat Goat will compete for ALL AROUND Showman. Each 4-H member will in turn show each of the 5 species, receiving a score from 1-10. At the conclusion of the event scores will be totaled to announce the winner. See Fair book for more rules.

The 4-H members and the Fair Board would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated prizes or money to the Ness County Fair, with a lunch provided for those supporters. Will be served in the large room of the 4-H building.

Each 4-H member may sell two animals in the livestock sale. Minimum weights must be obtained to be able to sell. Buyers may purchase the premium (add on money) and the child may then sell the animal for floor price, or the buyer may purchase the premium and the floor price and keep the animal for butcher. Money may also be donated to the 4-H Pool to be combined with several donors, to purchase the premium of livestock. See Fair book for more rules.
